The Botanical Garden

The Carousel Gardens Amusement Park

A historic gem that’s been spinning since 1906, this antique wooden carousel is a must-visit. Though pets aren’t allowed on the rides, they’ll surely enjoy watching the vibrant whirl of fun from the sidelines! 

Couturie Forest

This is where the wild things are! An urban forest within City Park offers trails to wander, wildlife to spot, and tranquility to bask in. Your canine companion will surely appreciate this spot's sniffs and sights. 

New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden

Dive deep into the world of art and culture. NOMA is the oldest fine arts museum in New Orleans, featuring over 40,000 objects spanning 5,000 years of art, including the Italian Renaissance to the modern era. Additionally, the sculpture garden features over 90 modern and contemporary sculptures set among live oaks. 

Big Lake

Whether you prefer paddle boating, bird watching, or relaxing by the water, Big Lake offers a serene spot to chill.

Crescent City Farmers Market

The Crescent City Farmers Market is a year-round event that hosts more than 70 local small farmers, fishers, and foot producers, boasting more than 150,000 shoppers annually. This farmers market is part of Market Umbrella, a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to cultivate the power of farmers' market power to drive economic and community health in the region. 

Thursdays at Twilight

If you are a music lover, Thursdays at Twilight is for you! This concern series costs $15 and features an array of musicians at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters that pair perfectly with the delicious mint juleps. 

Arts Market

One of the more popular New Orleans City Park events is the Arts Market, which takes place every second Saturday of the month on the Great Lawn. The market features over 30 local and Gulf South artists showcasing handmade works. 

Lark in the Park

For those who want an unforgettable evening experience at City Park, Lark in the Park is a must! This event is presented by Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust, City Park Conservancy’s signature fundraiser, and features live music, dishes from the city’s top chefs, specialty cocktails, and springtime glamour. 

This event began in 1982 and supports the park’s capital improvements, general maintenance, and beautification. It’s important to note that tickets are required for this event and are typically around $100. 

Super Saturday

On the first Saturday of each month, the park hosts a community volunteering event, Super Saturday,  to help revitalize the park. Locations and projects vary monthly, so we suggest looking at their calendar and planning ahead. You can click here to sign up. 

Fall Garden Festival

Who doesn’t love a little pumpkin spice and everything nice? The Fall Garden Festival takes place in the Botanical Garden and is a plant and garden exhibition that features music, art, cooking demonstrations, and more. 

Ghosts in the Oaks

Boo! New Orleans is known for its iconic Halloween celebrations, and Ghosts in the Oaks is no different! This is a favorite of all the New Orleans City Park events because who doesn’t love Halloween? Ghosts in the Oaks features trick-or-treating, arts and crafts, a pumpkin patch, and hotdog roasting around the campfire. This family-friendly event is perfect for guests of all ages, and costumes are highly encouraged! Tickets can be purchased here.  

Brews and Boos

If adult-only events are more your speed, check out Brews and Boos. This event features a ghastly amount of beers for guys and ghouls 21+ in addition to unlimited rides, jello shots, a costume contest, open beer bars, snacks, and don’t forget about the tricks and treats! Celebration in the Oaks

Celebration in the Oaks is the largest of the New Orleans City Park events and runs from mid-November until the end of December. This light festival t is the most iconic New Orleans holiday family tradition. The event began in the 1980s and features over a million twinkling lights. You can either do a 2.25-mile driving tour or a reimagined Walking Tour revamped after the pandemic. The event also features amusement park rides and access to the Botanical Garden. Celebration in the Oaks is a must if you are trying to get into the Christmas spirit! Tickets go on sale November 1st and can be purchased here
